Battlefield 4: Amazing

I’ve been browsing around YouTube and found something I overlooked: At E3, Battlefield 4 was debuted, and shortly after, multiplayer gameplay was released.  The gameplay features an awesome battle in Shanghai:

Just amazing right?! This game features almost fully destructible environments and large scale UI system. I recently bought BF3 and am currently getting familiarized with the game and it’s mechanics. So far I am enjoying it as much as I did with Call of Duty. As I already pre-ordered the PS4, I will soon pre-order Battlefield 4 as well. I’m tingling with excitement for this Next-Gen era with processors several times faster than the previous generation and games that take it to the extremes!

I’m anxious for opinions!

Xbox One: Changing their ways?

In the war between next gen consoles, the public has chosen the PS4 as their winner, leaving the Xbox One behind. This is mostly due to the Xbox One’s requirement of an internet connection every 24 hours in order to use the device and the PS4’s lack thereof. However, Microsoft announced that they have changed the properties of the Xbox One

So, today I am announcing the following changes to Xbox One and how you can play, share, lend, and resell your games exactly as you do today on Xbox 360.

~Don Mattrick, President, Interactive Entertainment Business

What does this mean for the Next Gen War? The PS4 still has a price edge but will that be enough? Microsoft’s desperate attempt (let’s face it, that’s what it is…) to reclaim it’s fans may prove to be a turning point in the war.

I, personally am still siding with Sony because of my great experiences with the PS2 and PS3, but others may not feel the same. I would be shocked to see if Microsoft lowered the Xbox One’s price by $100 to compete with the PS4 but i wouldn’t put it past them.

Star Wars Battlefront 3 leaked gameplay

I’ve been searching the web for information about the previewed Star Wars Battlefront 3 and I stumbled across this YouTube video with leaked footage of Battlefront 3 gameplay:

“This video shows leaked alpha footage of Star Wars: Battlefront III, which was to have been the third video game in the Star Wars: Battlefront series. Although LucasArts never announced the game, Free Radical Design developed the game from 2006 until 2008. The video gives you an example of how vast the battles would have been: all the Republic’s Cruisers you see on the video are piloted by full crews of real players.”

The game seems pretty cool although it is development from nearly half a decade ago! The trailer I showed a few days ago was most likely new CG for E3. It reminds me of the Battlefront Elite Squadron game released on PSP a few years back what with the characters X1 and X2 fighting and all but it did have some more twists in it.  The game has probably been heavily modified to be up to next gen standards. Though there is virtually no information regarding this game, I will be watching for more news on it!

E3 Update: Sony PS4 Reveal (#Winning)

The long-awaited PS4 is here with the news on the hardware and design. Many people on the comment feed on Gametrailers.com are going back and forth trying to decide which system is going to be better than the other, and the general consensus is the lower priced console wins the war for this generation.

After discussing the PS3 and PSVita, the PS4 was introduced. Bypassing the chit-chat with the arcade games and all (don’t get me wrong, they were pretty alright), the action started out with Assassins Creed IV: Black Flags… Though this was the first actual gameplay demo the PS4 actually froze on multiple occasions: Not a good marketing plan. Despite that, Assassin’s Creed remains

on my list with the awesome gameplay and everything. Next was the Watchdogs gameplay debut which only increased my love for the game, this time with no glitches in the system. beautiful and unlimited possibilities. They even had LeBron James himself for the release of  the new 2k.Embedded image permalink

What the users really had a ball with was the fact that there were no restrictions on used games!!!! No need to connect online either! This is what shot the Xbox down from first place at E3. In addition, the playstation is a hundred dollars cheaper than the Xbox One! The feed has shifted massively to PS4 and unless Microsoft does something, they are in for a loss…

E3 Update: Ubisoft Conference

This Ubisoft conference showcased several games, many of them continuations of already established franchises. Each game offered us new look at Ubisofts ticket into the Next Gen era, most loved is Watchdogs and Splinter Cell. These games take the 21st century and advance it further with imagination. Gaming just got alot more immersive than previous consoles and games. There was also the release of a new just dance which is apparently going for yearly releases and names like most sports games.
There was more talk of the Xbox One taking over the TV and all. Although I’m not fan of this implementation of all this stuff from the gaming console. So many good games this year and not enough time to play them.
Many viewers on Twitter and Facebook have been complaining, but please don’t.

The Ubisoft surprise was amazing though! The Division just may have entered my to-buy list. It’s Watch Dogs mixed with Ghost Recon. This is Amazing!!!! Probably something being released next year. Look up the trailers and videos if you get the chance!

E3 Update: COD Ghosts

This sneak peak of the game was aired last night and gives us an insight to the game.

Into the deep:
This underwater level looks like it will be extremely interesting. It looks much like that level from MW3 with the submarine. It looks very slow going but suspenseful, but not so much that it’s boring. What would be awesome is a multiplayer map underwater! That would be so amazingly fun and entertaining. It could potentially be a fan favorite like Nuketown.

Riley the CoD Dog:

When I first heard that you could use a dog in the new Call of Duty, I had a frown on my face and my eyes rolled in their sockets thinking, “Wow, they are trying too hard…” But looking at the trailer, I better understand the use of Riley and his importance to the story and gameplay. The dog looks like it could most certainly become a CoD trademark. Already as I watch it, I feel attatched to the dog as if he’s one of my brothers in arms… as much as I hate to say it, I can’t help but feel like Riley will end up dead towards the end of the story. Or maybe one of the brothers. I don’t know, but this game is definitely on my watchlist!

Non-liniar Storylines/alternate endings

Many games in recent years have been implementing many  different kinds of features to make games more interesting. One of my favorites is the use of non-linear storylines and alternate endings. This has been a great twist to storylines – where the things you do in-game affects the outcome of the campaign or the difficulty of subsequent levels. Some examples are in Assassins Creed: Brotherhood where if you take out Borgia towers in certain areas of the map (Rome), missions taking place in that area are decreased in difficulty. And in infamous, where the things you do affect how the people like you. And Black Ops 2, where you have in-game choices that affect cut scenes and the overall ending. These are all enjoyable games by themselves, but the aspect of alternate endings and altered gameplay are not what the games are famous for. In my opinion, there should one day be a game where anything can happen. I mean anything!

Take a CoD game for instance; say you fail an objective in story mode, but instead of restarting at a checkpoint, the game continues with the result of your actions showing in future missions. This technically opens the door for hundreds if not infinite outcomes of a game. Now this vision of mine has several problems with it.

For one, Time: The game developers spend endless hours trying to create an enjoyable gaming experience, and adding that many more sequences of code alone could take several months, let alone the graphics and animations, which could take years, even with a highly skilled team.

Secondly, Space: The digital space on a game disk is not infinite. Games today take around 6-10 GB of space, much of which is environments and animations. Adding all the variable graphics for a fully malleable storyline could take up about 30 GB or more.

Now I doubt that a dev team would spend this long on a game, not to mention the money, in the age of next gen systems, who knows what companies will pull out of their hats for us gamers. They might  add on more gameplay stuff for us. The PS4 and Xbox One have unknown possibilities!

Xbox One and Call of Duty: Ghosts

Last night marked the introduction to Microsoft’s next generation console and what an intro! Though I’m not an Xbox guy, I will certainly consider it now! The new Xbox is a worthy opponent to Sony’s PS4, with new engines and graphics and all the things that make a console desirable… and then some. The new Xbox comes fully integrated with Kinect which allows for motion and voice commands! Yes you can tell your Xbox to turn on the TV or go to Netflix or something. Microsoft has attempted to fully control your living room with the Xbox One. Unfortunately, this system will most likely be extremely expensive, costing maybe $750 USD (Unconfirmed speculation). The PS4 may also be the same price for competitive reasons. I’m looking forward to seeing some competition!

But for me, the most important thing of the night was the debut of Call of Duty: Ghosts. This game is not at all what anyone expected. The game has little or nothing to do with the previous Modern Warfare series, but creates a new story and cast to captivate gamers. This game takes place in a time where the U.S. military is crippled and the world has gone to the dogs, and only you and your team – the ghosts – stand between saving it and chaos. So far, it looks like it has nothing to do with Ghost from the MW series, but maybe it does. Maybe the group is in honor of the lost hero, I don’t know. All I know is that it’s on my buy list without a doubt.

The Ghosts Are Real

When I got home today, I had in my email a strange message with the subject, “The Ghosts Are Real”. When I looked at the sender I knew what it meant. It was sent by Call of Duty:

It’s about time! The next generation gaming age comes in strong with the most successful gaming franchise releasing their new game. Though this is only the teaser, it left me itching to see the trailer and play the game. This is definitely on my Pre-order list.

To combine this with another leak that I caught wind of earlier this year, I remember seeing somewhere some information about the game. A voice actor for the game leaked that the main character was one who was arrogantly self-confident. This is just something I remember reading and may have absolutely no truth at all.

Anyway, the game is possibly about our old friend, Ghost, from Task force 141 who supposedly was killed along with Roach on Modern Warfare 2 when they were betrayed by General Shepard. Forget about spoilers on a four year old game by the way.  But the game could either take place before his death, or play on the fact that he did not die. I would prefer the latter because of the completely new doors it would unveil.

Did you notice the cut scene though? The mask is one that is far different than the one worn by ghost throughout Modern Warfare 2. See here:Gohsts2                                         Ghost

The difference is unmistakable, but what does it mean? is it someone carrying out Ghost’s legacy, or Ghost himself before/after TF141? I don’t know. All I know is; there’s a new Call of Duty game out there, and I cannot wait!

Also there was something else that I didn’t notice around the internet (mostly because I wasn’t looking). There is a next gen Xbox confirmed, and it will be debuted on May 21st. As it happens, check my Twitter feed and this site for the latest info

Next Gen Consoles/Games

Sony event                       Xbox

2013 is the year of Next Gen consoles, what with the Wii U coming out late last year, and the PlayStation4 announced in February. Though Microsoft hasn’t officially confirmed the release of an Xbox720, it is widely believed that it will be announced in the Spring or Summer. Along with these new systems, comes a new era of graphics and complexities in Video games. Also included in this Next Gen revolution are new games to go on these platforms. The Sony event introduced many, such as and Watch Dogs, Assassins Creed 4 Black Flag is included, and we all know Activision will most likely release a kick-ass Call of Duty game (Rumored to possibly be Modern Warfare 4).

Though the Wii U isn’t considered “Next Gen,” it is a significant leap from the low end Wii which was described by many as the butt-crack of gaming. The Wii’s graphics were generally worse than those of the old PS2. Though I haven’t wittnessed live, I’ve seen Wii U gameplay and it is equal to or just under the performance of the Xbox360 or PS3. The Wii U may be a good system for the low caliber gamer, but for a medium like me, The Next Gen from Xbox and PlayStation will be my first choice. The question is, which games should I get?

I am a fan of Ubisoft’s Assassin’s Creed series, and definitely plan on pre-ordering ACIV. Along with that, Ubisoft’s Watch Dogs looks like y kind of game, so that’s in my shopping cart. But the thing is, I haven’t decided on getting the PS4 or not. Historically speaking, when Sony releases a PlayStation, a new, smaller version is released, generally better than the original. If I buy the PS4, I probably won’t get the PS4 Slim which is utterly certain to follow the next year. Decisions, decisions…

What do you all think?  What will be the best Next Gen console? Which games will you buy?

I’m anxious for opinions!
