Battlefield 4: Amazing

I’ve been browsing around YouTube and found something I overlooked: At E3, Battlefield 4 was debuted, and shortly after, multiplayer gameplay was released.  The gameplay features an awesome battle in Shanghai:

Just amazing right?! This game features almost fully destructible environments and large scale UI system. I recently bought BF3 and am currently getting familiarized with the game and it’s mechanics. So far I am enjoying it as much as I did with Call of Duty. As I already pre-ordered the PS4, I will soon pre-order Battlefield 4 as well. I’m tingling with excitement for this Next-Gen era with processors several times faster than the previous generation and games that take it to the extremes!

Terrible Games: What makes them terrible?

So I am sure you all have played some games where you simply threw the controller on the ground and actually yelled out, “This is the shittiest game I’ve ever played!”  and never look at the game again. I know – I’ve done it too. But what actually makes a terrible game? What is so repulsive that pushes someone away from a game? For some, it is the graphics, for others it’s the storyline, for others it’s the gameplay. Even I couldn’t exactly put my finger on what makes a terrible game.

When we talk about a terrible game, it is obviously an opinionated judgement, and cannot be proved by facts. It greatly depends on who’s playing it and their expectations for it. For example: While walking through GameStop, I found a game called Jak and Daxter: The Precursor Legacy. I had never heard of it but it looked , if I did I would probably call it a terrible game. However, a six-year-old child who loves this kind of stuff would call it an awesome game. But if got a highly acclaimed game, say God of War, and had high expectations for it, it is far more likely that if it doesn’t meet those expectations than I will see the game as a ‘terrible’ game. It’s all relative.

Another factor that may contribute to one’s opinion of game is the difficulty. Most gamers want to be challenged, but not face the impossible. When playing a game, we want to feel like we are badass at the game but we don’t want to feel like it was handed to us on a silver platter. Most games have difficulty changers that make things easier for weaker gamers. I, myself, for first time games set it to medium. This also applies to the multiplayer versions of games. Some games have gameplay that suits more hardened players, leaving the rookies to slowly acclimate themselves to the game. However, multiplayer versions are generally constructed to suit everyone, but there are some that are for hardcore elite.

Knowing this, I have learned to put a stopper on my instant opinions and analyze them. For example, when I played Assassin’s Creed: Revelations, I was less than impressed, but I never explicitly expressed that the game “Sucked”. Instead, the words I used were “The worst in the series,” because in my opinion, it was. I mean it was entertaining for the most part, but got extremely repetitive fairly quickly. My point is not to be so quick to judge a game.

I mean we can all agree that there are some games that are just terrible…

Xbox One: Changing their ways?

In the war between next gen consoles, the public has chosen the PS4 as their winner, leaving the Xbox One behind. This is mostly due to the Xbox One’s requirement of an internet connection every 24 hours in order to use the device and the PS4’s lack thereof. However, Microsoft announced that they have changed the properties of the Xbox One

So, today I am announcing the following changes to Xbox One and how you can play, share, lend, and resell your games exactly as you do today on Xbox 360.

~Don Mattrick, President, Interactive Entertainment Business

What does this mean for the Next Gen War? The PS4 still has a price edge but will that be enough? Microsoft’s desperate attempt (let’s face it, that’s what it is…) to reclaim it’s fans may prove to be a turning point in the war.

I, personally am still siding with Sony because of my great experiences with the PS2 and PS3, but others may not feel the same. I would be shocked to see if Microsoft lowered the Xbox One’s price by $100 to compete with the PS4 but i wouldn’t put it past them.

Star Wars Battlefront 3 leaked gameplay

I’ve been searching the web for information about the previewed Star Wars Battlefront 3 and I stumbled across this YouTube video with leaked footage of Battlefront 3 gameplay:

“This video shows leaked alpha footage of Star Wars: Battlefront III, which was to have been the third video game in the Star Wars: Battlefront series. Although LucasArts never announced the game, Free Radical Design developed the game from 2006 until 2008. The video gives you an example of how vast the battles would have been: all the Republic’s Cruisers you see on the video are piloted by full crews of real players.”

The game seems pretty cool although it is development from nearly half a decade ago! The trailer I showed a few days ago was most likely new CG for E3. It reminds me of the Battlefront Elite Squadron game released on PSP a few years back what with the characters X1 and X2 fighting and all but it did have some more twists in it.  The game has probably been heavily modified to be up to next gen standards. Though there is virtually no information regarding this game, I will be watching for more news on it!

A hole in the Assassins Creed Story: Can’t Un-See it

Ok so I love the Assassins Creed games and enjoy both the modern day storyline as well as the historical era story, but there has been something that caught my eye a while back and it is something that shakes the whole foundation of Assassins Creed world.

The main underlying premise of the story is using the Animus to relive the memories of your ancestors. These memories are stored in your DNA, and the Animus can access it and bring it to life. While thinking about this, I realized that that made no sense what so ever! If the memories of your great grandfather are in your DNA, how would they tell his whole life? Assuming your gandfather was not conceived post patris mortem (after the death of his father), he would only have his grandfathers memories up to the time he was conceived. The DNA could not transfer future memories of his father  Same for your father and then you! The chronology just doesn’t add up. Therefore, Desmond could not possibly have the memories of Altiar to his death because he had a son who possessed the extent of the memories of Altiar that would exist throughout the subsequent bloodline. I know this is difficult to understand so here’s a visual aid.

AC fail

I doubt this botheres anyone else, and Assassin’s Creed is still an awesome game; one of the best, and this minor annoyance will do little to change my opinions!

E3 Update: Day 2 in a Nut Shell

The day was relatively uneventful compared to yesterday’s excitement, but it did give us more information on the years games. We saw more information on games like Assassin’s Creed, and Splinter Cell, but no real mind-blowing surprises like yesterday. I almost considered not posting today because of how difficult it is to follow last night.

Game Trailers Live Access confirmed that sentiment for PS4 has surpassed Xbox one, and showed Sony’s “screw you” to Microsoft here:

OWNED! Sorry Xbox, but PS4 has got you plain and simple.

Nintindo skipped their press conference but they did announce most of what the fans expected, but they still attempted to further the old franchises with the new Mario cart and new Donkey Kong but nothing huge. Nintendo, as per usual is still kicking because of these mainstream classics, but when will that cease to be enough?

Sorry that I’m at a loss, but like I said, yesterday blew my mind and today did nothing to come close!

E3 Update: Sony PS4 Reveal (#Winning)

The long-awaited PS4 is here with the news on the hardware and design. Many people on the comment feed on Gametrailers.com are going back and forth trying to decide which system is going to be better than the other, and the general consensus is the lower priced console wins the war for this generation.

After discussing the PS3 and PSVita, the PS4 was introduced. Bypassing the chit-chat with the arcade games and all (don’t get me wrong, they were pretty alright), the action started out with Assassins Creed IV: Black Flags… Though this was the first actual gameplay demo the PS4 actually froze on multiple occasions: Not a good marketing plan. Despite that, Assassin’s Creed remains

on my list with the awesome gameplay and everything. Next was the Watchdogs gameplay debut which only increased my love for the game, this time with no glitches in the system. beautiful and unlimited possibilities. They even had LeBron James himself for the release of  the new 2k.Embedded image permalink

What the users really had a ball with was the fact that there were no restrictions on used games!!!! No need to connect online either! This is what shot the Xbox down from first place at E3. In addition, the playstation is a hundred dollars cheaper than the Xbox One! The feed has shifted massively to PS4 and unless Microsoft does something, they are in for a loss…

Star Wars Battlefront Returns!

This is teaser from E3 is a taste of the return of Star Wars Battlefront, one of my favorites as a kid. The game is complete with next gen graphics. Though it was vague, everyone has high hopes for the game.

E3 Update: Ubisoft Conference

This Ubisoft conference showcased several games, many of them continuations of already established franchises. Each game offered us new look at Ubisofts ticket into the Next Gen era, most loved is Watchdogs and Splinter Cell. These games take the 21st century and advance it further with imagination. Gaming just got alot more immersive than previous consoles and games. There was also the release of a new just dance which is apparently going for yearly releases and names like most sports games.
There was more talk of the Xbox One taking over the TV and all. Although I’m not fan of this implementation of all this stuff from the gaming console. So many good games this year and not enough time to play them.
Many viewers on Twitter and Facebook have been complaining, but please don’t.

The Ubisoft surprise was amazing though! The Division just may have entered my to-buy list. It’s Watch Dogs mixed with Ghost Recon. This is Amazing!!!! Probably something being released next year. Look up the trailers and videos if you get the chance!
