Cinematic Gameplay

There are few games that strive to be near cinematic in gameplay and cut-scenes more than Uncharted 3: Drakes Deception. This was the first game I played on PS3 and still it’s one of my favorite games. The graphics are amazing, the storyline was epic, and the gameplay was well-oriented. It was quite the introduction to the PS3. What stuck most about the game was the general effect it left with me: The game gave the illusion that you were “Playing a movie” as I’ve heard it described. Throughout the game, the line between cut-scene and gameplay was blurred with film-like camera angles and effects.

This isn’t the only game that has utilized the cinematic gameplay. Since ’08, the Call of Duty franchise has been instituting more cinematic gameplay on their campaigns, making the games far more enjoyable than they have been in the past. Though I haven’t personally played it, I’ve heard that Battlefield 3 also has some dizzying gameplay; actually, in the trailer for Battlefield 4 showed ten minutes of gameplay that seemed like a movie. The games above are all highly successful, winning awards for their gameplay, graphics, music, and playability. It reflects quite well on the use of cinematic gameplay and I sense that their example will be followed far into the future. Battlefield 4, as I said uses it; I suspect that the rumored Modern Warfare 4 would use it, and (if it will exist) Uncharted 4 will most certainly use it.

These games are on my wish list and if any more games like that come up, I’ll be sure to check them out. You guys should suggest some in the comments. I’d be greatly appreciative.
